Fields of Graduate Instruction - Foreign Language and Literature

Admission Requirements: 

Degree Requirements: Both programs require at least 30 hours of course work and a culminating project. Each student’s program is tailored to enhance his or her career objectives. Students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. receive the requisite training and assistance.  Students who plan to teach in community colleges or universities may complete the degree without a concentration or with a concentration in another language, English, History, or another discipline. K-12 teachers who already have "A" licensure may earn "M" licensure by taking 36 hours in specified disciplines. K-12 teachers who already hold "A" licensure can add-on English as a Second Language (ESL) licensure by taking 36 hours in specified disciplines.

Student Financial Support: Graduate assistantships and fellowships are available to students in both programs and are awarded by open competition. 

Other Relevant Information:  Students are admitted for the fall semester only; deadlines for applications are February 15 for international students and May 1 for U.S. students. Students interested in a teaching assistantship indicate this interest on the Graduate School application and must have their application in by March 1 for full consideration.
